Whroo Film Society Thu June 23–Brassed Off

imageWhroo Film Society’s feature film this month is Brassed Off.

Brassed Off is directed by Mark Herman and stars Pete Postlethwaite.

The film tells the story of a group of Yorskshire miners who form a male brass band to find solace from their harsh coal mining environment.

Whroo Film Society Thu May 26 2011–The Seven Year Itch

imageThis month’s feature film to be shown by the Whroo Film Society is The Seven Year Itch, directed by Billy Wilder and starring Marilyn Monroe, Tom Ewell, Evelyn Keyes and Oscar Homolka.

Doors open at 6pm for the start of the movie night at 6.30pm.

If you wish to join in the Whroo Film Society’s monthly screenings, there’s a 3 month membership costing $17 or you can subscribe for a full movie season (February to November) for $45.

A meal on the night is extra $8.

RCH News May 19 2011 – Pizza party to celebrate Neighbourhood House Week – Radio station PowerCountryFM launch May 23 – New leadlight over front door

The May 19 2011 edition of RCH News is online at rchnews.wordpress.com.

There’s a report of the pizza lunch held during Neighbourhood House Week to which the local community was invited.

On May 23 Rushworth Community House in partnership with PowerCountryFM will officially launch the radio relay transmitter (transmitting on 88 FM) hosted at Rushworth Community House.

The front room of the House is being refurbished and part of that is a new leadlight created by Poppy Doyle over the front entrance.

Invitation to official launch of PowerCountryFM radio at Rushworth Community House

imageI’m pleased to invite you to the official launch of the POWER COUNTRY FM relay transmitter installation at the Rushworth Community House on Monday 23rd May 2011, at 12.15pm .

After the official launch, by the Mayor of Campaspe, Cr Neil Pankhurst, we would like you to join us in some light refreshment in our multi-purpose room.

The day will start off around 10am, with the outside broadcast van positioned at the front of the Rushworth Community House at 67 High Street, and will be broadcasting live on the airwaves – on 88FM frequency.

Please join us in the celebration of another milestone of Rushworth’s development, and we really look forward to seeing you next Monday 23rd May.

Melbourne Medical Companion Project

Volunteer companions are now available to accompany you from Flinders Street Station and Southern Cross train and bus terminals to your health care appointments in central Melbourne.

Bookings are essential.

Style Cafe by Bendigo Health

Bendigo Health Carer Support Services will begin conducting the Style Cafe support program once a month on a Tuesday beginning in June at Bendigo, Woodend, Echuca and Kerang.

The Style Cafe support service is for primay carers, family member and/or person over 65 with a diagnosis of early dementia.

MS-05  Beginners Welding

Learning some welding skills can be a fantastic asset to any householder – male or female.  This is always one of our most popular courses, so join in and learn all the basics. Whether its house maintenance or garden ornaments – this course will be a great asset!

Time:     2 hours per week from 1pm – 3pm

AC-07  Glass Bead Making

Working with glass is fascinating. Learn in this basics workshop a bit of history, how they are made and some precious hints and tips, and culminate by making one or two yourself.
